Gender Identity Disorder

Please choose a fictional TV, movie, or cartoon character to diagnose with only one of the following 9 disorders, and no others:
Substance Use Disorder
Gender Identity Disorder
Major Depression.
This person must never have drawn breath (it can’t be an actual person, living or dead).
This paper should be at least 8 pages.  The paper needs to be in APA style.  The cover page, abstract and reference page do NOT count toward the 8 pages.  The cover page, abstract page, and reference page are  all required, but do not count toward the 8 page minimum.
Please do not forget to organize your work into paragraphs and include an introduction and a conclusion. Grammar, punctuation, spelling and organization all count toward your grade. Please do not put this essay into question-and-answer format.
Please write every paper for this class in the third person.  Please do not use the words “I,” “you,” “me,” or “my” in any paper for this class.
Here is a 4 minute video on how to write in the third person.  How to write in the third person as required for this paper.
Please do not use any direct quotes in this paper.  Please put everything in your own words.  Please paraphrase everything.
This is where we add the next “step” in learning how to write a research paper in APA style.
Students will have to do some research and properly cite and reference a chosen website and/or scholarly article.
This is the “new part.”  Students have already done everything else being asked in Written Assignment #1 and Written Assignment #2.
Remember, we’re building toward the skills students will need in any 4-year school!
Please think about (and write about):
1.  What is the etiology of this disorder?  What causes it?  What is the concordance rate of this disorder?  What is the prevalence rate of this disorder?
2.  What are the specific diagnostic criterion for this disorder, based on the DSM-V? List and explain them.
3.  How/why are your client’s history, behavior, and symptoms consistent with this diagnosis?  Please be specific.
What is the background and history for your client that make it likely your diagnosis is correct? If you do not have it, make it up. Your “client” will not be offended.
What are the current symptoms your client is experiencing. Be detailed and complete. The more convincing you are that your client has this disorder, the better.  Be sure to make an “iron clad” argument for this diagnosis.
4.  Why have you assigned this diagnosis and not another?  What diagnoses have you ruled out?  What is it NOT?  Why?  Please be specific.
5. Which type of treatment would you recommend for your “client” and why?  Please be specific.  Do not just say “psychotherapy” or “medication.”  Which kind of therapy and why?  Which type of medication and why?
Please use, cite and reference your textbook. It is NOT the ONLY source you’ll need for Written Assignment #3.
Here is the reference for the textbook:
Feist, G. J., & Rosenberg, E. L. (2022). Psychology: Perspectives and Connections (5th ed.). New York, NY: McGraw-Hill Education.
Here is the in-text citation for the textbook:  (Feist & Rosenberg, 2022).
Students will need to use their textbook and AT LEAST TWO other scholarly sources that are  less than 5 years old.  Stuents need a total of THREE sources.  Students must use their textbook, but they can use either a scholarly source or one of the three websites below as their second source. The third source must be scholalry and peer reviewed.  It may NOT be a website.
Additional scholarly/academic sources beyond just three will serve to improve your grade.
Scholarly journal articles can be found on The NC Live password is “fourmask.”
In addition, you may use any/all of these 3 websites.  Students may use these three sites only:
All Written Assignments are to be presented in APA style.
To  be accepted for credit, each paper must have BOTH in-text citations and references.
Please use, cite and reference your textbook. It is NOT the ONLY source you’ll need for Written Assignment #3.
Please do not use any websites, other than those above.
Please do not use any material that is not scholarly and peer-reviewed.
Students WILL NEED:
It appears alone on the second page of your paper.
It does not count toward the page minimum of 8 pages.
The cover page and reference page also do not count toward the 8 page minimum.
Please be sure to create a good title for your paper.
Also be sure that all information that is required is both present and in correct order and placement on the cover page.
An abstract.  This is a 5-6 sentence summary of your paper.  It is written last.
