Exacerbated Human Rights Issues

Students must complete a significant paper that is well-researched and focused. The purpose of the paper is to provide students with an opportunity to state and defend a critical thesis that is related to the themes of the seminar. All papers should be at least 7,000 words (7,500 word maximum), excluding the footnotes and bibliography, and should meet the following technical requirements:
(a) pages should be double-spaced;
(b) pages should be numbered consecutively in the upper right hand corner;
(c) all text must be kept within margins of at least one inch on all sides;
(d) a font and point size** conventional for formal presentations should be used;

(f) all citations should conform to the Canadian Guide to Uniform Legal Citation (i.e.
the McGill Guide*); and
(g) the word count should be provided on the first page of the paper.
Final papers will be graded based on criteria that include the following:
(a) the clarity and originality of your thesis;
(b) the clarity, analysis, and development of your argument;
(c) the extent to which you draw on your own views and ideas;
(d) the persuasiveness of your argument;
(e) the extent to which you have identified and addressed counterarguments;
(f) research depth and organization; and
(g) writing style.
