Administration of Higher Education

You may choose one of several options for the research paper and in-class presentation and must get
formal approval prior to beginning your research and writing.  We will workshop your ideas in class.

1) You may write a critical analysis of a significant issue in the organization, governance, and
administration of higher education. Your paper should provide background on the issue, explain
how and why the issue has become so prominent, examine various and competing perspectives
on the issue, and consider potential, future developments relating to the issue.

You should include at least 7 to 10 academic sources in your research paper.  Academic sources include
peer-reviewed journal articles, book chapters, and books.  Your work must be new writing, follow APA
guidelines, and be 10 to 15 pages in length (not including the title page, abstract, and reference list),
double-spaced, and in 12-point font.  You may include in your paper a short executive summary or
abstract of 100 to 150 words, but this will not be counted toward your page requirement.  Your work
will be graded based on adherence to APA 7 and its conceptual clarity, structure and organization,
